Van Gogh painted the series of 'Sunflowers' whilst setting up an artists' cohabitation in Provence. Although in hindsight this was a destructive household, the sunflowers depict a feeling of hope and the sun of the South of France. They are built up with thick brushstrokes called impasto which evokes the texture of the seed-heads. This is a cushion steeped in art and culture sure to add depth and interest to any room.
